How the PEN Score Assessment Process Works
The PEN Score Assessment System is designed to evaluate an individual’s technical knowledge, practical understanding, and job readiness in manufacturing, quality, and industrial disciplines. Each assessment is completed online and is structured into four separate parts that progressively evaluate the participant’s competency in the subject area.
Participants must successfully complete each part before advancing to the next section of the assessment. If a passing score is not achieved on a section, the participant cannot continue until that portion is successfully completed. This step-by-step structure ensures that individuals demonstrate understanding of foundational concepts before moving into more advanced topics.
Assessments are timed and may include technical questions, calculations, blueprint interpretation, inspection scenarios, process evaluation, and practical problem-solving exercises designed to reflect real workplace situations. The system measures not only knowledge, but also the ability to apply technical skills accurately and efficiently.
To earn a PEN Score Certification, participants must achieve a minimum score of 85%. Individuals who successfully complete all four parts receive a PEN Score Certificate validating their demonstrated competency in the selected technical discipline.
